There are about a dozen U.S. athletes in combat sports that have been given an extremely difficult task: these athletes just barely missed the cut for the Olympics, and have been asked to play a behind-the-scenes role in preparing U.S. Olympians for their events.

There are mixed feelings from these athletes; younger ones who will have a chance for the Olympics again often just feel lucky to be there. Others feel frustrated and disappointed, but are still willing to help.
