“a magazine that’s as hip as a 55-year-old with his hat turned backward” (via Slate)

Slate thinks that “What was once the sports world’s agenda setter has become passive and uncritical.”  Are they right?  They make a strong case, but whether Sports Illustrated is still the premier venue for quality sports writing seems difficult to measure objectively.  Circulation’s doing fine though.
