Slate thinks that “What was once the sports world’s agenda setter has become passive and uncritical.”  Are they right?  They make a strong case, but whether Sports Illustrated is still the premier venue for quality sports writing seems difficult to measure objectively.  Circulation’s doing fine though.

We didn’t think they were going to pull it off. The article on the Patriots/Eagles game is worth it for the sheer number of metaphors used in the first three paragraphs.
